Everything you need if you're going to travel with your motorcycle this summer

Tips

It smells like vacation. The days are getting longer and the heat is arriving, and that can only mean one thing: it's time to plan our trips. Many people, although they take advantage of any free days for a quick getaway, give free rein to their passion for two wheels every summer with long routes leading to unknown and sometimes distant destinations.

If you are among those already preparing your motorcycle trip, it's important to do it thoroughly. To enjoy it to the fullest, but above all to do it safely and with the confidence of having everything under control. From NG BRAKES, we want to share with you a series of tips, as a checklist, so that nothing fails during the summer of your dreams.

Annual Check-up

Just like people, motorcycles must also be checked from time to time, like an annual doctor's check-up. If yours has just come out of the workshop, you can check the condition and pressure of the tires yourself, the level of the various fluids (brake, coolant...) and other important details such as, for example, the brake discs (if you have doubts about this point, this post can help you).

In case your bike hasn't been to the workshop recently, it's best to take it in advance so that a professional can give it a true complete check-up and prepare it for the long journey.

Gear Up Well

It's true that high summer temperatures don't exactly invite being "covered up." But if we are going to ride a motorcycle, we have to do it with the maximum possible safety. Therefore, it is important that, in addition to the helmet, you wear a jacket and pants with protections, gloves, and boots. To prevent the heat from affecting you too much, it's best to opt for ventilated gear, specially designed for this time of year. Additionally, helmets with a retractable dark visor will allow you to see well at all times, even as dusk falls.

Plan Your Trip Well

Getting lost on the roads without any direction and living out adventures sounds very idyllic, but reality is quite different. It is important to plan each segment in advance, paying special attention to fuel and, of course, the temperature. The best way is to travel early in the day, when the sun is not yet at its highest point and it's not as hot. You will be more comfortable, your bike will suffer less, and you'll find less traffic, so you will enjoy it much more.

Always Carry Water With You

Hydrating is always important, especially if we are making a physical effort, but in summer it is even more so. Ideally, you should carry a hydration bladder with you to be able to drink comfortably while riding. Likewise, whenever you need it, stop, drink something cool, and have a light snack, like fruit. There's no rush, you're on vacation, and the main thing, as always, is to get back home.
